Check Clogged Condensate Drain Line and Overflowing Drain Pan

A condensate drain pipe in your air conditioning system removes moisture that has accumulated in the overflow pan.

These drains may become blocked with mold and dirt, preventing the machine from adequately draining the condensate. Water can back up and leak around your indoor unit if this happens. Consider stained carpets, warped flooring, and sagging ceilings.

To avoid such issues, remove the PVC cap from the drainpipe and insert a strong, stiff wire through the drain. This should assist with the removal of algae, mold, and sediments that cause clogs.

Then, down the line, add a cup of liquid chlorine bleach. Every 6 months or so, a cup of liquid bleach can be poured down the line. It will aid in the killing of algae, mold, and mildew in the pipe.

If your Condensate Drain Pan line is entirely clogged, you will need to call a professional or use a wet/dry vac with a drain line attachment.
